The Grand Haven Lighthouses in Michigan
Known as the Grand Haven South Pierhead Inner Light and Pier Light. They stand several hundred feet apart on a long stone pier. The inner tower, which was built in 1895, is 51 ft. tall, and is a steel cylinder topped by a small lantern. The smaller pierhead tower was originally the station's fog-signal building and was moved to its present location when the pier was extended in 1905
These lights are also known as the Grand Haven Breakwater Lights.
The Grand Haven Rear Light is the one that is closest to the shoreline. The Grand Haven Front Range stands further out on the pier, furthest from the shoreline.
From U.S. 31 in Grand Haven, follow Franklin Ave. and South Harbor Dr. to Grand Haven State Park. The pier is open to the public, and the park also offers a place to have a picnic and swimming.
I'd have to say that out of all the lighthouses I got to visit in Michigan, these were my favorite. Very similar to visiting the St. Joseph Lights though.
